The Oath and Covenant of the Priesthood is found in Doctrine and Covenants 84:33-42. It is a set of promises between God and those men who receive the Melchizedek Priesthood in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
As part of the Oath and Covenant, those who receive the Melchizedek Priesthood are obligated to serve God and the Church and to use their priesthood to bless others. Those who obey the Oath and Covenant will receive the strength they need to perform their labor for God and will be welcomed into the Celestial Kingdom to become Priests and Kings and Sons of God. Those who break the covenant will have no forgiveness of sins in this world or in the world to come.
A covenant is a solemn promise of what to do or what not to do at a given event or condition and usually sealed with an oath. An oath is an undertaken promise before the execution of trust purporting the trust as a fact.
The first priest was Melchizedek.Roman Catholic AnswerUnder the original covenant, the head of every family was a priest. Later, when things went awry with the golden calf at Sinai, another covenant was given and the priesthood was taken away from the family and given to Aaron. This is referred to as the Levitical Priesthood. The first priest that we meet in the Old Testament is, indeed, Melchizedek, a mysterious figure who offered bread and wine. He was not a Jew.Under the New Covenant (of Jesus Christ), Jesus is the First, Last, and greatest priest of the new law.
The three items contained within the Ark of the Covenant are the stone tablets inscribed with the Ten Commandments, a jar of manna, and Aaron's rod. These items symbolize the covenant between God and the Israelites, God's provision and sustenance for his people, and the authority of the priesthood, respectively.
There is no "Leviticus". The Levites (Leviticus essentially meaning "book of the Levites") were one of the 12 tribes, whose duty it was to maintain the temple and act as a priesthood.

Phineas Priesthood was created in 1990.
The terms of this covenant were that a son from David's line would possess the throne forever, and that this son would build a house for Jehovah's name. God's purpose in this covenant was to provide a kingly dynasty for the Jews; to give Jesus, as David's heir, the legal right to the throne of David, "Jehovah's throne" (1Chronicle 29:23; Luke 1:32); and to provide identification for Jesus as the Messiah. (Ezekiel 21:25-27; Matthew 1:6-16; Luke 3:23-31) This covenant included no priesthood; the Levitical priesthood served in conjunction with kings of David's line; priesthood and kingship were strictly separate under the Law. Since Jehovah acknowledges this kingship and works through it forever, the covenant has everlasting duration. (Isaiah 9:7; 2Peter 1:11)
The priesthood was after the order of God, it is referred to the High Priesthood which is the same as God holds. Rather than refer to it as The Priesthood of God, thereby using the name of God in vain, it was called after the order of Melchizeddek who also held the high priesthood.
There are actually only two priesthoods, the first is the Aaronic named after the brother of Moses, Aaron. Within that priesthood are three offices that of Deacon, Teacher and Priest. The other priesthood or higher priesthood is the Melchizadeck priesthood named after the righteous king of the same name. Within that higher priesthood one may hold the office of Elder or High Priest.
The source of the priesthood is Jesus Christ who is considered as the high priest.
