To Christianity, Sin originates from Adam and Eve. Sin in Christianity is selfish and evil acts that man commits, and what man must ask help and forgiveness from God for.

These things (selfish and evil acts, above) are evidence of sin.

Sin is missing the mark. Sin is being unlike God.

The first man and woman were created 'in God's image'. When they disobeyed God they were cut off from their relationship with God and died spiritually.

The Bible says everybody born since then is born spiritually dead. Another way of saying this is people don't have a relationship with/know God. This is because the first man and woman did not obey God and so their relationship with God - the creator and sustainer of life - was broken. This is sin.

Throughout the history of mankind - as told in the Bible - the way for a person to restore their relationship with God is to acknowledge their relationship with God is broken and to offer a sacrifice.

In the early history of mankind this is what people did. God chose the nation of Israel to be His representatives on earth. Israel was supposed to show the other nations what a relationship with God is like. But Israel turned from God and His ways and followed other gods.

So God came to earth as a man - Jesus - and died as the 'lamb of God', a sacrifice for the sin of all who believe. If a person believes this, the Bible says God forgives the person and that person gives them eternal life.

1John 5:11 And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.

1Johnn 5:12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.

This eternal life is a free gift. To receive it you only have to believe Jesus is the saviour of the world.

Answer:

Truthfully, most people don't know WHAT sin is in order to know whether or not they are sinning. God in His Word, the Bible, defines sin for us as: "...the transgression [breaking] of the Law [the Ten Commandments]." (I John 3:4; see also Rom.7:7)

Consequently, there's a lack of consistency and clarity and "translation" [interpretation] of sin within modern professing Christianity, because with literally HUNDREDS of diverse denominations of them, of whom very few have ever read or studied the Bible... personal opinions therefore vary greatly among them as to what sin is. Especially, with many of them "doing away with God's Commandments" in their doctrines; thus, eliminating the Bible's definition of sin in their minds and hearts altogether [which most of them never knew, anyway].

But according to Jesus Christ... SATAN IS THE ORIGINATOR OF SIN!

"...He was a MURDERER FROM THE BEGINNING [the 6th Commandment] and has always hated the Truth. There is no Truth in him. When he LIES [the 9th Commandment], it is consistent with his character; for HE IS THE FATHER [originator] OF LIES." (John 8:44 NLT New Living Translation)

Satan is the Father of Sin. He is THE worldwide "lying deceiver" who led Adam and Eve astray. [see Gen.3 & Rev.12:9] Adam and Eve were newly-created adults who were innocent as newborn babes, with absolutely no experience of life or the ways of sin [disobedience to God's Commandments].

They were neither "good"... nor were they "evil." They were created SPIRITUALLY NEUTRAL!

The "Dragon" - "...that Old Serpent, called the Devil, and Satan..." [Rev.12:9] was WAITING FOR EVE in the Garden of Eden. And he, the master, originator and FATHER of sin introduced the first two created people to "his original concept."

And through his coercion, deception and influence... Adam and Eve "chose another god" [1st Commandment] to worship and obey. They took the earth and their lives that God gave to them... and gave it away to "the god of this world." And they became his "slaves," sold in bondage to the ways of their new "master." The ways of disobedience to the laws of their Creator: "sin."

They "coveted" [10th Commandment] what was forbidden by God for them to have [the option to decide for themselves what's right and wrong, instead of believing what God told them is right and wrong and obeying Him].

They "stole" [8th Commandment] what God said wasn't theirs to have.

They "lied" [9th Commandment] about it later, refusing to accept responsibility for their transgressions... and in mind-numbing fear and dread; failed to "repent" of what they'd done and ask God for His Mercy and Forgiveness.

In the end, they "disrespected their Creator" [5th Commandment]... thus, "profaning His Righteous Name" [3rd Commandment].

Adam and Eve didn't "originate sin." They were just the first of mankind to be deceived by Sin's Originator.

And as it turns out... sin's translation has a GLOBAL impact on ALL MEN... not just a tiny brand of false religion in the world. All the nations of the world sprang from Adam and Eve... and sin was "translated" into the lives of their children: ALL OF MANKIND!

The best translation [interpretation] however, is that man's Creator has "personally paid the ransom price" for His creation through His sacrificial payment: the shedding of His Divine Blood:

"...Without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sins." (Heb.9:22 NLT)

And the slow process is in the works to "redeem" it [to buy the generations of mankind back from his slavery and bondage to his deceptive, lying, murdering master]. And to restore man to "innocence" [a rebirth] and to his intended Righteous Service to his God and Creator.

"...I AM making all things new! ...I will be their God, and they will be MY CHILDREN." (Rev.21:5-7 NLT)

"...Come to Me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens [the inherited sins of your lying master], and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you. Let Me teach you, because I AM Humble and Gentle, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke fits perfectly, and the burden I give you is light." (Matt.11:28-30 NLT)
