This is probably the word "repent" or "repentance." A great word to learn about which we translate as "repent" is metanoia, which is in the New Testament, and it usually means either:

that you changed your mind about something and turned the other way from what you were doing,

or that you regretted something you did and have remorse for it.

These are great descriptions, because they really match up with the way you said it in your question: "turning away" from sin and "coming" to God. The process of repentance is that our eyes are opened to the fact that something we're doing is not right or that it hurts God, feeling in our hearts that this is not right and that we wish we had not done it, and then turning to come back to God.

Here is a verse that doesn't have the word "repent" in it, but describes the concept really really well:

Jesus is talking about the Jewish people He is trying to preach to, and He feels sad because the Jewish people refuse to see that God is trying to reach them, to change them from the life they're living. Jesus says they won't listen with their ears or see with their eyes,

"...Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts

and turn, and I would heal them.'" (Matt 13:14-5).

That's a great picture of repentance: Jesus wishes that these people would see and understand that what they're doing is wrong and "turn" (the same word as you used in your question) and God would let them return to Him and heal them.
