What is the purpose of life?

The purpose of life is to learn, grow, and to be happy. This doesn't mean the temporary "high" we get from making bad decisions, but the happiness that comes from helping others, making the world better, and knowing God. That kind of happiness lasts, and can last beyond this life.

Making sure your genes will be passed on to the next generation and making sure that life on the earth will never end. Receiving love and expressing it to a special person. Achieving goals set by the individual, if possible, then improve quality of life for other people, oneself included.

God made the Earth for people: "He did not create [the earth] simply for nothing," but "formed it to be inhabited" (Isaiah 45:18). He wanted people to exist in order to have someone to love, and to give us an opportunity to achieve godliness. All people are tested concerning their use of free-will. We possess a soul which lives on after the body dies and is held responsible for the person's actions. Anyone who is worthy can merit reward in the afterlife. When the righteous use their free-will to obey God despite His being hidden, they have shown that they deserve His love. Their reward will never cease. But even the undeserving are given the kindness of life in this world, and the lifelong ability to draw near to Him.

1) The world is not chaotic or the result of chance. Life is the work of a deliberate, purposeful, intelligent and kind Creator; not a melancholy chaos or a string of fortuitous accidents. God is at the center of reality and should be the center of our world-outlook and thoughts.

3. God knows the thoughts and deeds of all. He has given us free-will, and we're tested as to how we use it.

Aristotle believed in the importance of final causes, which implies the belief that purpose governs the development of the universe. This doctrine was the foundation of Christian thinking for almost two thousand years.

A very philosophical approach was taken by Kant, who maintained that every human being is an end in himself. Extrapolating from this we can say that there is no general purpose for life, because each individual has his own purpose.

Modern science has eliminated the entire notion of a cosmic purpose for life. The purpose of each living individual, human or otherwise, is the continuation of the species. Our sex drive and even our ultimate death contribute to that purpose.

Our ethical purpose in life should be to contribute towards the general happiness of all.
