Roman Catholic AnswerThe only thing that I can find in canon law regarding the witnesses is Canon 1108, section 1, which mentions that a valid marriage is contracted in the presence o fhte local ordinary or the pastor or a priest or deacon delegated by either of the, who assist, and in the presence of two witnesses. Nothing in Canon Law stipulates an age of the witnesses. An age may be set by a local Bishops' Conference or an individual diocese. It would depend on what state you are in. I know that in Nevada you have to be 18 to witness a wedding.
Yes, to be a sponsor of Baptism or Confirmation you need to be Catholic, Confirmed, and at least age 16. If you are Catholic but not Confirmed you can be a Christian witness godfather as long as another sponsor godmother is Catholic and Confirmed.
The requirements for anybody to have a wedding in Las Vegas is to get an application(proof of age may be required) and a $55 fee.
The legal age to be a witness is the age of majority. In most places that means you must be at least 18.
No, I am 13, not a good age but was raised a JW since I was born. I ran away from home and left the cult, the restrictions are outrageous and I am studding the religions and comparing them, there thoughts on life, sex, marriage, and anything you can imagine, is deluded. If it is true, let me pay the consequences for my own actions, but I will not abide by the false lies of there congregation. To answer your question. If you don't want to be disfellowshipped then no, but I would leave anyways.ANSWER FROM ONE OF JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES (adult)Yes, of course; Jehovah's Witnesses can attend any ceremony as a guest and not a participant, however some may chose personally not to attend the actuall ceremony since Jehovah's Witnesses to not participate in religious rites that do not agree with their conception of bible teachings. This therefore rests a personal decision.
The only age at which a Catholic could be excused from attending Mass would not be a chronological age exactly, but perhaps when one is too old or sick to be able to attend Mass and there is no help available. Otherwise, I should think death would be the only acceptable measure!
You are required to have witnesses sign the marriage license at any age. Over 18 no longer requires parental consent in most places.
No........but the baby should have a sponsor IF POSSIBLE. The Sponsor is appointed by the Parents (or Parent), or whoever stands in their place, or failing that, by the Parish Priest or Minister of Baptism. The Sponsor must be at least 16 years of age and a baptised catholic, but in an emergency situation, the age rule can be adjusted but that person must be a baptised catholic. A person of another faith can be a sponsor only if there is a catholic sponsor present as well and only as a witness. There is no mention of god parents grandparents in the Code of Church law relating to baptism.
Catholics age 60 and over are not required to fast during Lent but must abstain from meat on the days appointed.
One spouse must be Catholic. Here's the reason why: According to Catholic doctrine, the couple, not the priest, performs the actual sacramental marriage. The priest is the witness. The state is the official "recognizer" or witness of a marriage. This is why everyone has to obtain a marriage license before marrying and why many people choose to marry in front of a judge or justice of the peace as officers of the state or county. Legally, in every state, a person's pastor (of any religion) can witness the marriage on behalf of the state as long as he is really their pastor. There is a lot of liberty taken with this. Usually a Catholic priest will not wittness the marriage of TWO people who are both non-Catholics--- because he is not their pastor--- but he WILL witness the marriage of a couple where only one is Catholic, as long as both are canonnically free to marry.:EDIT: Also, you need a dispensation from the Church, which will allow you to have a Catholic wedding with a Catholic person if you are not Catholic. This is making sure that the children will be baptized and taught in the Catholic faith, and that no efforts will be made to try to raise the children in another religion.
Any attorney that is not part of the deed can be a witness to it. You also must be at least 18 years of age.
Yes, she is legally married if the wedding was legal in Mexico. If she lied about her age in order to get the marriage license, then no. The US recognizes legal marriages performed in other countries.
