Depends upon its language, its condition, its version, its historical significance (if any) and so forth. A good place to get an answer to your question of value would be e-bay.

I guess my question wold be why would one want to sell their bible in the first place?

However, in monetary value as an antique it is worth very little.

there are several reasons for this; firstly Bibles are mass produced and, in free countries, easy to come by. Even in Victorian times (from when your Bible dates) Bibles were produced in bulk and are so not uncommon at all. Even if your Bible was in pristine condition, it would only be worth a few dollars (or pounds), if that. Secondly, on the antiques market old Bibles sadly have little real appeal. Thirdly, most Christians today use modern translations for study rather than the older versions like the King James Bible - the edition which is most probably yours. - and so would noty be interested in it as a study Bible.

There are some exceptions to this however. If your Bible is a very large 'Family' Bible which has been bound well in leather, has many beautiful illustrations and is in pristine condition, with a brass (or silver gilt) lock, then it may well be worth up to a hundred pounds/dollars. But even this is unlikely unless the edition is a rarer edition, the condition perfect, and you happen to find the right buyer.

As an example, I recently bought a large Family Bible (which I wanted specifically to pass down the family) from an auction. It is beautiful and has several black and white plates. I got it for £5 (about $6.50) plus the buyers' premium of 17%.

It depends how much the book cost in the first place. Multiply that with how old it is and you got your answer. It might be more than what you get, but my rough estimate is $2000 at the best.
