Because it is The Word of God.
Answer
The above answer, though correct, needs a little elaboration!
The Bible consists of 66 books, all written by different authors including shepherds, tent makers, doctors, fishermen and even kings. It is a truly cosmopolitan mixture of different literary forms from poetry, history, prophesy, fiction, letters and so on. Yet, though these books were written thousands of years apart, independently of each other, by authors who had never met, and in different locations, they all have an underlying inspirational feel - that they are really inspired by God because of the divine theme running through each and every book.
Therefore, because of the nature of this theme, the book remains as relevant today as the first books in the Bible to be written did, some 3-4000 years ago. Although the books were written about people that were alive thousands of years ago, they still faced the same problems of broken relationships, greed, poverty, materialism, oppression, and so on that we still face today in the world. And because of the divine thread running through scripture, people today still find comfort and hope in reading what God has to say about these problems so that the Bible continues to be such a relevant document today.
There have been thousands of ancient books that have long since disappeared except for a few copies kept in dusty university libraries. But the Bible is still printed and printed and printed today. No book, or collection of books, since humanity walked this earth, has changed lives so much as the Bible. No book has sold so many copies or had so many copies printed - ever. No book except the messages of the Bible, has caused whole totalitarian regimes to fall in favour of democracy. And no book has caused such alarm in evil totalitarian states that it has been banned on pain of death - and yet others risk lives to smuggle them in on a daily basis even today.
In fact, no book, ever, and that includes other religious writings like the Koran, has had such an influence on humanity as the Bible. Surely that makes it not just a masterpiece, but the greatest masterpiece of writing ever to be seen on this planet.

In the Islamic belief system, the Koran is similarly unique because it answers the big questions in life for Muslims. Similarly, the Dao de Jing ("Morality Scripture") answers the big questions in life for millions of Daoists.
