When God delivered the Israelites from the Egyptians at the Red Sea, He explained to the Israelites: "I am Jehovah your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt to give you the land of Canaan."-Lev. 25:38.
He (God) commanded that the inhabits of the land to be destroyed. (this is what is stated in The Bible)
The land promised to the people was Canaan.
The land of Israel.
According to The Bible, it was the land that God had promised to Abraham.
God wants people to be faithful and just and this can be done anywhere.
Moses led the Israelites through the desert for more than 40 years, but it was actually Joshua who led them into the Promise Land because Moses had disobeyed God and was forbidden to enter.

Canaan (קנען), later called the Land of Israel (ארץ ישראל), then Judea & Israel (יהודה וישראל), then Israel (ישראל), then Palestine (פלשטינה), then the State of Israel (מדינת ישראל).

God promised the promised land to the Israelites.
It was different from the religions around it, because the Hebrews believed in one God above all others.
