What man was first to be filled with the holy spirit?

The first human being to receive the Holy Spirit may well have been Abraham, father of the Hebrew nation. He was the first whose mind was opened to understand the existence of one invisible, ineffable God, the Creator. Abraham was also vouchsafed a theophany in the form of the king Melchisedek, a mysterious being who suddenly appears in the Abraham narrative, who knows Abraham, who describes himself as the "King of Peace" and whose very name means "righteous king." Melchisedek shares bread and wine with Abraham, an obvious precursor of the institution of the Eucharist by Christ on Passover evening shortly before his arrest, trial and crucifixion. The appearance of Melchisedek may have been the first recorded manifestation of the Son on this earth. It seems unlikely that the Son would have appeared to someone who was not filled with the Holy Spirit, and it also can be seen as a heavenly testimony of Abraham's importance in the Divine Plan whereby salvation for the world comes through the Jewish people.

'I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, who's shoes I am not worthy to bear: He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire"

Matthew 3:16

"And Jesus when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water, and lo the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him. And lo a voice from heaven saying, this is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased."

Acts chapter 1:6

"When they therefore were come together. they asked of him, saying, Lord wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? And he said unto them, its not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father has put in his own power. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem and in all Judaea, and in Samaria and unto the uttermost part of the earth. And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.

The receiving of the Holy Spirit is documented in Acts chapter 2

There is older documentation, which goes all the way back to the beginning of this earth age, in the book of Genesis 6:3 we find written:

"And the Lord said My Spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years."

According to the chronology of Hebrews 11, the "Faith" chapter... Abel was the first to "display Faith" and therefore have received God's Holy Spirit, because he is mentioned, first.

"By Faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice..." (Heb.11:4).

"...to Jesus the Mediator of a New Covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel [all the 'Faithful' sacrifices of the past - beginning with the blood of Abel's sacrifices as well as his own - have ALWAYS POINTED TO CHRIST]. See to it that you do not refuse him who speaks. If they did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, how much less will we, if we turn away from Him who warns us from heaven?" (Heb.12:24-25 NIV)

Then, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob... followed by others [named and unnamed] who demonstrated "Faith" in God's Word down through the generations of man.

King David, also, recorded his desire to not have God's Holy Spirit taken away from him:

"...Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy Holy Spirit from me." (Ps.51:10-11)

All of these are some of the "FAITHFUL dead in Christ" [who died having the Holy Spirit dwelling within them] who are awaiting the "First Resurrection" from the dead at Jesus' return... who shall co-rule with Christ the Kingdom of God for a thousand years over the nations of the earth, teaching them God's ways [see Rev.20:4-6].

And Abel, the second son born to Adam and Eve was the first Faithful man to receive God's Holy Spirit... to begin the blood sacrifice of animals... and to have his own blood shed for that Faith.

"... the voice of thy brother's blood crieth out to Mefrom the ground." (Gen.4:10)

"...I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the Word of God, and for the testimony they held: and THEY CRIED WITH A LOUD VOICE, saying, How long, O Lord, Holy and True, dost thou not Judge and avenge OUR BLOOD on them that dwell on the earth?" (Rev.6:9-10)

Abel's blood is the first of those with God's Holy Spirit to cry out to God... in both symbolism and reality.
