What methods do Atheists use to discredit Christianity?

Atheists use simple logic to discredit Christianity. Any Christian would struggle to find definitive proof that there is a higher power besides resorting to faith that there is one. Faith does not equal proof. While most atheists would admit that even they are not sure of how the universe came to be (although the theory of the Big Bang has been well supported by scientists), Christians choose to believe in a figure that they will adamantly say is real and exists today, yet has not been proven to exist in any way, shape or form.

1. Of course, atheists do not accept Christianity as true or accurate, although in most cases, they do not discuss their reasons, even with close friends. The reasons for not believing are diverse and, for the most part, private. These may include lack of evidence for God, or evidence that The Bible is inaccurate and unreliable.
   
   
2. It is unusual for atheists to set out to discredit Christianity, in the second sense, although some go as far as to analyse reasons for non-belief. Almost invariably, such reasons are given tactfully and respectfully and do not meet the usual definition of 'discredit'. Atheists are as entitled to their non-belief as much as Christians are entitled to their beliefs. Those atheists who choose to write and give what they believe to be good reasons for non-belief are as entitled to do so as Christians are entitled to write giving what they believe to be good reasons for belief. I have met many Christian street preachers, but never even one atheist preaching non-belief on a street corner. Atheists are generally unconcerned with whether others believe in God.

To discredit all theistic positions, not just Christianity atheists use facts and logic. They base their questions on a greater familiarity on the tests and doctrines of the religions that the majority of the followers. This seems to be especially true of American Christians who have very little familiarity of the actual positions and texts of their religion and relay on interpretations of clerics.As an example at a session with Bill Nie (the X=Science Guy) he stated that the moon was visible during the day at times during the year. Local religious types told him that was a lie as the Bible says the moon rules the night. They have never looked up.
