What prevents people from developing spiritually is ignorance. As we grow up in life we are covered by layers of ignorance. We are taught the myth. We are taught rituals, superstitions and therefore it becomes difficult to realize what the truth is. Layers of ignorance create a blanket of darkness. Therefore, we live as the body, we seek physical pleasure, we live as the mind and ego ME, and create karma. We do not reach the depth of our Spirit, our Divine Soul which is deep within. Therefore, if we really want to develop spiritually, we must make an effort, we must ask questions and investigate till we realize the Divine Spirit. Unless there is a will, unless there is a trigger we will live and die without realizing we are the Divine Spirit.
