What rules do Sikhs follow and why?

Sikhs follows the teachings of the Ten Sikh Gurus, from Guru Nanak Dev Ji to Guru Gobind Singh Ji, along with 15 other Devotees coming from different socio-economic background, which is present in Sikhs eternal Guru, Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

There are many rules but if you mean the 5 K's. They are

The 5 K's are:

Kachaa - Short briefs (undergarments) - to remind a Sikh about chastity. It also enabled free movement in battle.

Kirpan - A short dagger worn in a scabard, to remind the Sikh it is his/her duty to defend the weak and defenceless against tyrrants.

Kanga - A wooden comb worn in the hair to remind a Sikh about cleanliness and tidyness as a discipline. This basically goes back to military type discipline.

Kara - Bracelett made of steel/iron to remind a Sikh about duty and upholding values of truth. The circular nature of the bracelet represents the order of the Universe and how everything is connected.

Kesh - A symbol of Royalty and of defiance to tyrrants. In old Indian society, only warrior castes and Kings were allowed to have long hair. Lower castes had shaven heads. The 10th Sikh Guru defied the Upper castes and overlords and made lower castes keep long hair and hence made "Lions out of Jackals". The tenth Guru also stated "I will teach the sparrow to challenge the Hawk".

These are the things a Sikh is to always have. Of coase i go to skool and they wont let me take a kirpaan to skool. So i am going to wait till university to put that on. :P

The three main principles of rules are Say God's Name, Speak the Truth, and What You Have Should Be Given To Others Also. I don't think there are 10 rules, but those are the main ones that Sikhs follow.

two main rules that practicing Sikhs have to follow are:

1) they can't eat beef (i don't know why)

2) they cannot cut their hair (i think this is because they believe that is has been given to them By Guru (their God.) so what is the point of cutting it? i understand but i don't agree.)
