Statues of Hotei are available in many sizes and finishes. There is no constraint on personal taste to decide which are suitable for display in personal homes.
It is suggested that a size which allows entry via existing doors or windows is most wise logistically, but building your own (depending on your artistic ability) can increase the size considerably.
You can put a laughing Buddha anywhere
Laughing Buddha is said to be kept in front of the door. It brings peace and prosperity to the shop.
First off, the laughing Buddha is not The Buddha, Siddhartha Gautama. He is a Chinese monk called HoTei. He is a representation of a Buddha of abundance. The historical Hotei died many centuries ago but many Chan Buddhists revere him. So as far as where to place him, put him someplace where you would want a holy person to be, therefore not in a bathroom, or bedroom. In an entrance way (foyer) or living room would be best, or looking over a nice garden.
Laughing Buddha (what people call) is definitely not the Buddha. He is believed to be a monk or a god by many people. I have no idea why people usually confuse him with the Gautama Buddha because they two had no similarities. This god is never worshiped in (Theravada) Buddhism. The Buddha never laughed (at anything) because the Buddha was already free from all kinds of suffering, like laughing, crying, fear, worry, etc. Instead, he occasionally smiled at certain events in the presence of his disciples when he would like to teach his disciplines based on them. The Buddha was not bald. The Buddha's sublime features included his hair knot over his head.He also did not put beads around his neck and in his hand. Since beads are related only to Hinduism, (Theravada; pure) Buddhism has nothing to do with beads. Moreover, the Buddha was not very fat with a protruding belly. The Buddha possessed a very sublime golden body of medium size. In addition, the Buddha did not expose his belly (front body) like the stout laughing deity (named Budai). The Buddha wore a golden robe with/without the right arm exposed. The answer is: the laughing buddha is not a ritual in (pure) Buddhism.
Buddhists do not worship the Buddha, what we follow is the ideals and teachings put forth by Siddartha Gautama, who became a Buddha. Buddha is a title not a name, anyone can become a Buddha.
people put this face :L for laughing or :D. Although some people put :3 but im not sure why?
Yes, I have put my shrine (table with flowers, candles and Buddha statue) into my spare bedroom and made it my meditation room.
Noticed!
hi,It can be suggested in answer of your question that you can carry a tinny statue of laughing buddha and put it on a high place so that it can have a look of complete room.
The acronym "lol" (laughing out loud) is also used sarcastically, as if saying that something is laughably dull or dimwitted.
Just get incense sticks and light it, then go to your front door (entry) and say that your inviting him to his new home. Make sure you have offerings such as food and tea and then put the incense stick and just pray. If you are moving to a new home, you need to tell the buddha to leave the house for the moment and you will invite him again once your in your new location. This also needs incense sticks and just tell buddha that. Once that is done get a red paper and cover the status/figure or what ever holy object you have and move it to your new home then unwrap the red paper and invite him as i mention in the first paragraph.
Let's say you're a Christian. Why don't you put Jesus in a bathroom?
