What steps do you take to become Muslim?

is not the TRUE religion... Christian is the only true religion... And that's what will take you to heaven and there you can have eternal life....

To become a Muslim you need to believe in the following:

1- There is only one god who created the earth, heavens, human beings, and everything.

2- The God has no father, no son, no daughters no family mmebers the god is the first, the beginning, the creator.

3- To believe in the existence of the angels

4- To believe in his books, the Quran, The Bible, The Torah, and to consider the Quran is the last revelation from the creator to human beings. You don't need to refer to other book since the Quran came.

5- To believe in the messengers and the prophets of the creator Such as; Mohammed, Jesus, David, Solomon, Abraham, Noah, Adam and all the other prophets and Messengers of the creator

6-To believe in the day of Judgment / the resurrection day.( This is the day when the earth and heaven collapses, the earth will be reformed, all human being will be raised from death, an d all human beings will be judged. The believers who were doing good deeds will inter heaven and live happily forever, and the disbelievers and the bad deed dowers will enter hell for ever)

7- To accept the fate of it good or bad.

according to shia Islam you also should believe in Imamat.

Sect is about different beliefs. For example shia believe Imamat (Leadership) is among five pillars of Islam and sunni believes this is not among them.

Five Pillars of Islam according to shia Muslims are:

1. Monotheism: The Oneness of Allah (tawhid)

2. Divine Justice ('adl)

3. Prophethood (nubuwwa)

4. Succession to Muhammad (imamat)

5. The Day of Judgement and the Resurrection (Qiyama)

Practices of Islam according to shia Muslims:

1- Prayers (salaat) - 5 times a day

2- Fasting (sawm) during Ramadan

3-4. Alms giving (zakaat and khums)

5- Pilgrimage to the city of Makkah (hajj)

6- Holy Defense (Jihad)

7-8. Enjoining good (amr bil-ma'rouf) and forbidding evil (nahiy an al-munkar)

9- Supporting those who walk in the path of Allah (tawalli li awliyaa' Allah)

10- Turning away from the enemies of Allah (tabarri min a'daa Allah)

Five Pillars of Islam according to Sunni Muslims are:

1. professing (Shahadah)

2. Prayer (Salat)

3. Alms-giving (Zakāt)

4. Fasting (Sawm of Ramadan)

5. Pilgrimage to Mecca (Hajj)

also different schools of sunni have differs in five pillars. for example Mu'tazilate Sunni Scholars like shia consider Adl as one pillar. but Ash'arites does not believe Adl is one of Pillars although believing in Adl as an attribute of God but with an interpret of Adl that in view of shia and Mu'tazilate is equal to not having Adl.

Take a shower, or bath. Go to a gathering of Muslims - like at a mosque. Tell them you are ready to enter Islam. You will sit in front of any number of witnesses, does not matter how many. Then you will repeat after the person who says the testimony of faith. The meaning of what you say is: "I witness (testify) that there is no deity (none worthy of worship and obedience) but the One God; and I witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of God". Bada-boom, bada-bing. You're a Muslim. It's that easy.

First step is to bear witness that there is none worthy of worship besides GOD, the one God, undivided, all-powerful, having no equal unto him. The creator and sustainor of everything. A God that is in no need of anyone or anything. a God from which all existence began. a God with no beginning and no ending. Lets name God = Allah (Arabic spelling for God).

The other steps that will follow are all secondary to the First step. They are Salaah, to Fast in Ramadaan, to give Zakaat(Charity), and to go on Pilgrimage to Mecca at least once in your lifetime.

In addition to the Doctrine Tawhid (as described in Answer 2), in order for a person to become a Muslim, there are other required steps for conversion.

Mohammed: You must accept the prophecy of Mohammed with all of its qualifiers, namely, that he received prophecy from God, that the Qur'an is that prophecy transmitted without error, that his prophecy is the final prophecy, and that his prophecy is part of the lineage of all Prophets of God.

Declaration: You must, in front of the entire Muslim community (one mosque will be sufficient) declare your belief in Tawhid and in Mohammed's prophecy. This declaration is called the Shahada or Testimonial. Upon making the Shahada you are responsible for performing all of a Muslim's requisite acts such as prayer, charity, chastity, abstaining from alcohol and pork, and other religious requirements.

You can become Muslim if first you abandon your former beliefs and then you witness that no god except the one and only one God (Allah) and that prophet Muhammad is His messenger and prophet. Then to believe in the five pillars of Islam and start practicing Islam morals according to Quran and prophet Muhammad Sunnah (sayings, doings, and practices).
