Gifts are not expected at a Mormon baptism, but some people do choose to give a small gift. It depends on the age, gender, and interests of the person being baptized. Here are some ideas:

-A personalized set of scriptures

-An LDS hymn book or primary children's songbook

-A journal

-A scrapbook for memories of the baptism day

-A painting of Jesus Christ

-religious themed jewelry

-A book written by a church leader

-A CD of religious/inspirational music

-A card with a heartfelt note from you

For my own Mormon baptism as an eight year old girl, I recieved a CTR necklace, a small framed painting of Jesus, scriptures, a primary children's songbook, several cards, and a baptism scrapbook.

You do not need to be baptized to be married in a Mormon church. However, you do need to be baptized to be married in an LDS (Mormon) Temple. The temple is where members of the church are married for "time and all eternity", believing that through the power of priesthood authority which was restored to the earth through Heavenly Messengers to the prophet Joseph Smith, their marriage will be valid after death.
