St. John the Baptist is known for several significant actions that underscore his holiness. He preached repentance and baptized people in the Jordan River, symbolizing purification and the forgiveness of sins. He also played a pivotal role in preparing the way for Jesus, proclaiming His coming and identifying Him as the Messiah. Additionally, his ascetic lifestyle, marked by humility and dedication to God, exemplified his commitment to holiness.
john was only a human, so he could only bless you with mortal things. but Jesus, however, can bless you with immortal things.

John the Baptist said, "I baptize you with water, but he who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire."
He said that the Holy Spirit was like Fire.
He baptized into water, but the one coming after him (Jesus) would baptize into the Holy Spirit.
By revealing to him that his cousin, the Lord Jesus, Is the Christ.
St. John did so by Baptizing people.
St. John the Baptist was Our Lord's Cousin, & a very Holy Prophet, who prepared His Way. He was beheaded by Herod Antipas, when he criticized him for taking Herodias away from his brother.
They are following the example of John the Baptist who used the waters of the River Jordan to baptize people.
