The apocrypha was NOT included in the Bible. These are the books rejected by Jews who cannonized the scriptures.

There were many different types of literature in the 18th century including Jane Austen's classic novel Pride and Prejudice. Literature in the 18th century also included poems by American writers.

I recall having heard that he didn't find the Apocrypha an important source of dogma, but recommended studying them.However, the Apocrypha like Maccabees aren't a source of dogma for the Lutherans, and they aren't spoken of in sermons etc.Apocrypha are those books and stories which were not accepted into the Christian protestant Bible (although some of these were included in the Catholic bible, such as Esdras I and II, for example).
