In the Baptist Church, the worship service is orderly and professional. The deacons, deacon sisters, trustees or whoever appointed for that particular Sunday would do what is called Devotion. Devotion is the first part of service. In devotion the appointed people would lead the congregation in songs, prayer, testifying, and reading scriptures until the minister or pastor is ready to start the second part of the service. Once the church service has started; Singing, Responsive reading, offering, chant, sermon and alter call will then take place. At the end of the service, the Benediction would come and then the pastor will dismiss the church. In recent years, Praise and Worship has been implemented into the first part of the service. Many churches are alternating between Devotion and Praise and Worship or combining members of both parties to perform both task during the period. This combination is done to appeal to both Traditional and Contemporary Parties. The type of worship service is mostly blended because their are many people from different backgrounds. Usually this is set by the pastor and the deacons, however, if the congregation is in disagreement, it can change within certain guidelines.

How old are you because in the Old Baptist Church there are hand signs?

In very old Baptist Congregations the Deacons used to use some hand signals during the offering of the tithe in order to be quiet and not interfere with any music or praying that was going on. I grew up in an olderÊSouthern Baptist Church, and some of the elders still do it.
