The virtue of obedience - God has required it and expects it. As our Creator and eventual Judge He has the right to.

But as He knows, because of our sin and twistedness we can never reach his standard of perfection and purity, He has provided a way of escape for us.

God loved the world so much that He give His only-begotten Son (the Lord Jesus), so that whoever trusts in Him should not perish (in hell for their sins) but have eternal life (forever in heaven) - John's Gospel chapter 3 verse 16.

God gave his Son to die on a Cross for us, to pay the penalty for sin, He willingly endured God's judgment when He was on the Cross. He died for us and has been raised again from the dead and is now in heaven.

He asks us to come to him, realising that we are wrong and God is right, and to trust in Him. If we do that we will be saved - The Bible says

He who believes on the Son has eternal life (Johns Gospel chapter 3 verse 36)

If we refuse Him we must perish for He is the only way of escape.

Hope this helps,

Andrew
