What was God doing before the creation?

God has not let us in on that mystery.

Answer:

Since, as part of Creation, God created time itself, the word "before" is not necessarily relevant. And as the first answer says, it is in any case beyond our ken.

Perhaps the best way our finite minds can understand, is to think of Him being in another dimension. Time and matter did not exist then. God created everything we sense with our five senses. Therefore, God could not have been in any "place" at any "time" because He hadn't created them yet.

Many people ask how old is God? Or in your case what was he doing all that time, before He created us? And the only way you could really find out that answer is by asking God yourself. you can pray and He might answer you. My belief is that he was larger than the universe and not formative nor anthropocentric nor appearing as a human being type figure. If one refers to a gargantuan mass of light as God larger than the universe itself, then he was this spirit. Take, for example, that there is no Creator God in Buddhist philosophies. There is in Christianity, but it's merely a label because at the time that Buddha was around we would have thought of a male figure using his hands to create the heavens and the Earth. The term "God" was only applied as a human construct so imagine an infinitely radiant light. This solves the theological problem of the Son coming from the Father because while not literally conceived, one was come about from the other from the very beginning. And so when we hear Muslims say that Christ is not the Son of God, Christians should not be upset. There is existence beyond the universe, and there resides God probably in a human form, but I imagine he can take on whatever form he chooses.

At the same time, God itself is a subject of much debate. Is it Krishna? It is Yeshua? It is both to some, and neither to others. We know this much - God is immutable, so whatever he was doing at the beginning of creation, he does now in some subtle form, probably not in the sense of creating new universes but more in the sense of directing a cultivation of humankind.

Per Islam teachings, Allah (or God and same God in Christianity and Judaism) is the first before any other first and the last after any other last. What God was doing before creation is God affair and not of interest of human beings.
