Today, all religious denominations have names like Protestant or Muslim. That used not to be so in ancient times. Ancient cultures had all kinds of different sets of national or even local gods, and apart from the 'official' gods each family had household gods who protected their home and family.

The many Gods of Carthage were mostly ancient Phoenician gods, so you might say his was the "Phoenician religion", probably with a number of local Spanish gods (he was born and bred in Spain) thrown in for good measure. Major gods in Phoenician religion were Melquart and Baal.
