Jesus provided an example for us when he made a personal choice to do God's will. Because he had been born into the dedicated nation of Israel, he was already dedicated to God. Still, at his baptism he did something more than what was required under the Law. God's Word indicates that he said: "Look! I am come . . . to do your will, O God." (Heb. 10:7; Luke 3:21) So Jesus' baptism symbolized his presentation of himself to God for the doing of his Father's will. His followers imitate his example when they offer themselves for baptism. However, in their case, water baptism is a public demonstration that they have made a personal dedication to God in prayer.
2000 years ago, God the son came and lived on earth for a tme. His name was Jesus and he was born to the virgin Mary. In doing this he became fully man along with being fully God.

He lived a life, had friends, felt persecution and experienced temptation. He lived his life completely without sin. He never did one thing that was out of God's will. After about 33 years, he was imprisoned, wrongly prosecuted and executed. 3 days later he came back to life and was eventually taken to heaven.

While here he promised us that if we have faith in him, he will forgive our sins. His victory over death will be our victory over death. We can exchange our sinfulness for his righteousness. This is the best deal ever.

Those that believe in Jesus believe that upon death they will be taken to heaven and live in His glory forever.
