WHATT WAS LUCIFER'S JOB IN HEAVEN?

God's Word is a bit secretive as to the duties of angels.

Lucifer... and Michael and Gabriel, presumably, are "Cherubs" (Kar-oobs), plural, "cherubim." They are the only three angels named in The Bible.

Of Lucifer, the Bible says: "...thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the Holy Mountain of God..." (Ezek.28:14).

We are told that Lucifer, who later became Satan (adversary) following his rebellion against God's Government, or Holy Mountain, "...drew the third part of the stars of heaven..." with him in his rebellion - Revelation 12:4.

The Bible reveals "stars" as symbolizing "angels."

"... The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in My right hand... the seven stars are the angels of the seven churches..." (Rev.1:20).

It's evident that if Lucifer "drew a third of God's angels" with him in his rebellion... then the remaining two-thirds of God's angels should be divided and under the leadership and authority of the other two "named angels" in the Bible, Michael and Gabriel.

Although "Gabriel's angels" are not mentioned... we are told:

"...there was war in heaven: MICHAEL AND HIS ANGELSFOUGHT against the dragon; and the Dragon fought AND HIS ANGELS, and prevailed not..." (Rev.12:7-8).

Of angels in general, we are told:

"...Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?" (Heb.1:14)

So, angels were created TO ASSIST GOD IN BRINGING MEN TO SALVATION - to assist man in achieving ETERNAL LIFE and becoming GOD'S CHILDREN - HIS FAMILY.

We are left with a conclusion that Lucifer didn't like the arrangement... to be some kind of supernatural "eternal valet" for mankind.

He was obviously given a powerful position of authority in God's Government with one-third of God's angels at his command. Yet, he was a cherub... an angel... never to become an actual "Child of God." That was man's purpose for creation:

"The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit that WE ARE THE CHILDREN OF GOD..." (Rom.8:16).

He must have brooded over what the future held for him. Always an angel... never to become a true member of God's Family. He became bitter with resentment... and spoke his words of resentment and discontent to his angels.

"...Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. By the multitude of thy merchandise (like a traveling salesman, he sold his angels on his plan to rebel) they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the Mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O COVERING CHERUB, from the midst of the stones of fire." (Ezek.28:15-16)

There is that reference to his being a "cherub" that "covers" again.

The Bible describes the "lid" of the Ark of the Covenant that God had Moses and the Israelites build. In the center of it was the "Mercy Seat" which represented the "Throne of God in heaven"... from which, we are told... God spoke to Moses.

"...thou shalt put the Mercy Seat above the Ark...and there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the Mercy Seat... of all the things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel." (Ex.25:21-22)

On the same lid Moses was commanded to make "two cherubim" (KJV - cherubim[S]) of gold:

"...and the cherubims shall stretch forth their wings on high, COVERING THE MERCY SEAT with their wings, and their faces shall look one to another; toward the Mercy Seat shall the faces of the cherubims be." (Ex.25:20)

Whatever Lucifer's original job was... it is evident that this "covering cherub" was very high up in the chain of command... at the very throne of the Father, Himself.

Yet, we aren't told any great details about angels in general... and the "covering cherubs" atop the Ark of the Covenant "conceal God's throne" from our view.

It appears that we aren't supposed to know, yet. The details remain hidden from us...

"...the Ark of the Covenant overlaid round about with gold... and over it the cherubims of glory shadowing the Mercy Seat; OF WHICH WE CANNOT NOW SPEAK PARTICULARLY." (Heb.9:4-5)

"For now we see through the glass, darkly; but then (later) face to face: now I know in part; but then (later) shall I know even as also I am known..." (I Cor.13:12).

Satan is presently "covering the Truth of God" and preventing us from seeing everything that we might... while God is revealing Himself to whom He will as He has predestined in His plan.

"...we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose. For those God foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those He predestined, He also called; those He called, He also justified; those He justified, He also glorified." (Rom.8:28-30 NIV)

For now... all we know is that God created the angels (including Lucifer) to assist Him in mentoring man in this "first phase of life" that will lead to Eternal Life and the creation of the "Family of God."

For now... all we know is that Lucifer didn't like the situation and "sinned." He was the first to "break God's Commandments," which is what "sin" is (I John 3:4).

"... He was a murderer from the beginning... when he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it." (John 8:44)

Satan is the father of sin.

It would appear that Satan hates man's potential - TO BECOME GOD - a destiny that he can never achieve. And he is jealous and envious of man with a burning hatred of which most men are unaware.

"...I will ascend into heaven, I WILL EXALT MY THRONE ABOVE THE STARS OF GOD... I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I WILL BE LIKE THE MOST HIGH..." (Isa.14:13-14).

Yet, man was created with five physical senses that are naturally subject to sin... rebelling against any authority and transgressing God's Commandments.

"...the (natural) carnal mind is enmity (hostile) against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be." (Rom.8:7)

And so, whatever Lucifer's specific job was in the beginning, notwithstanding... it is obvious that his present one is to "teach man all about sin" while man is "flesh and blood"... so that when man finally understands God's presently "overshadowed Truth" in the end... he will be able to "change"... to "repent" of his former life of lessons in iniquity and evil... and seek his Creator's MERCY before the Mercy Seat. Just as Jesus gives us a preview of Judgment Day, the Last Great Day:

"...In the LAST DAY, that GREAT DAY of the Feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, LET HIM COME UNTO ME, and drink. He that believeth on Me, AS THE SCRIPTURE HATH SAID (according to the scriptures), out of his belly shall flow rivers of Living Water (The Holy Spirit)." (John 7:37-38)

Lucifer is a "cherub"... an "angel." He was originally created to help bring man into God's Family, like all the other angels.

But he perverted his high office... which required by law, that another defeat him and qualify to rule where he had failed. It is evident that his "throne"... his "seat of authority" was on the earth when he bragged of "ascending above the clouds," which are a phenomena within the earth's atmosphere.

It is evident that Jesus Christ defeated Satan in the series of "temptations" he suffered... and qualified Himself to dethrone Satan on the earth - and become its new King. It wasn't until AFTER the "temptation" and Satan's defeat, that Jesus, being totally faithful to the Scriptures and His Father, began to preach the Kingdom of God.

"...He that sent Me is with Me: the Father hath not left Me alone; for I DO ALWAYS THOSE THINGS THAT PLEASE HIM." (John 8:29)

It is evident that that branch of the Kingdom of God here on the earth that Lucifer perverted is where "God's will" needs to be restored:

"...THY KINGDOM COME. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." (Matt.6:10)

It is on the earth where Satan and his angels were cast back down - and RESTRAINED HERE - and not permitted to leave or exercise the full range of their power.

"...the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, He hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the Judgment of the Great Day." (Jude 1:6)

It is evident that Jesus Christ of Nazareth, who defeated and shall replace Satan when He returns, is the King who shall restore God's Kingdom to the earth... and the saints whom His Father has been calling, choosing and training for the past 6000 years will be rewarded with the "mansions," offices, positions (the first estate) that Lucifer's angels abandoned in the beginning as administrators and leaders of the restored Kingdom.

"...Thou... hast redeemed us to God (the Father) by Thy blood... and HAST MADE US UNTO OUR GOD KINGS AND PRIESTS: AND WE SHALL REIGN ON THE EARTH." (Rev.5:9-10)

"...the saints of the Most High shall take the Kingdom, and POSSESS THE KINGDOM for ever, even for ever and ever." (Dan.7:18)

Lucifer is now the "cherub the covers" the Truth of God from the hearts and minds of men... until the predestined saints of God have all been called and fully trained... and all the abandoned offices of the former earthly branch of the Kingdom of God are filled by the Father and ready to be restored and established on the earth by a totally obedient administration - THE CHILDREN OF GOD ALMIGHTY.

Rulers of the Kingdom of God on earth, before they rebelled, and the earth became "without form and void": that's the job that Lucifer and his angels once held before man was made.
