God had given him a job to do and Moses did that job to the best of his ability.

We must remember that Moses was brought up as an Egyptian and he had always showed compassion for the Israelite slaves that worked for them. When Ramses found that Moses was himself a Hebrew, he went to his father the Pharaoh and told him the deceit of his sister and Moses.

Moses was banished from Egypt.

Remember too, that Moses was a human being walking of this earth. He was doing Gods bidding the only way he knew how. Granted, it was not always the most intelligent way, but to err is human. NO, Moses and all the rest of the people that were alive at the foot of Mt Sinai were NEVER to SET FOOT ON the PROMISED LAND, because of the the unspeakable sins that were committed while Moses was on the mountain.

To further the point that Moses was NOT a VICIOUS & CRUEL man read Exodus 32:10-14, where he is PLEADING with GOD not to take his wrath out on the people at the base of the mountain that are sinning.

GOD CHANGED HIS MIND!, all because of MOSES.

Exodus

32:10 Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may consume them: and I will make of thee a great nation.

32:11 And Moses besought the LORD his God, and said, LORD, why doth thy wrath wax hot against thy people, which thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power, and with a mighty hand?

32:12 Wherefore should the Egyptians speak, and say, For mischief did he bring them out, to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from thy fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against thy people.

32:13 Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, thy servants, to whom thou swarest by thine own self, and saidst unto them, I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of will I give unto your seed, and they shall inherit it for ever.

32:14 And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people.
