Interesting question, as quite a LOT changed after Vatican Council II, and MOST of it was not called for by the Council, nor even hinted at. For instance, the Council called for an introduction of reading the readings in the vernacular for the people to understand. Although the readings were in Latin, they were usually repeated by the priest in the vernacular anyway, so what the Council Fathers was asking for really wasn't that big a deal, it might just have caused the priest to not have to do the readings twice. But the Council went on to say that the Mass itself MUST REMAIN in Latin in the Latin Rite, that was the very essence of the Rite and there was absolutely no discussion or thought of putting the entire Mass into the vernacular. Further, there was absolutely nothing about changing the positions of the altar or the orientation of the priest. Huge amounts of what the people had to endure following the Second Vatican Council were neither asked for by the Council nor even hinted at. But the priests and bishops who had been infected with modernism, the most insidious heresy ever, couldn't wait to get out of the Vatican walls and give people Holy Communion in the hand! - Another abuse never even mentioned at the Council. Holy Communion under both kinds was discussed at the Council, and allowed on a VERY limited basis, for instance to priests at a Mass who were not celebrating, or seminarians at Mass. A couple getting married could receive under both kinds. Religious monks, nuns, and religious sisters could receive both species on the day they made their vows, and 25 and 50 years later when they celebrated their jubilees, and on, and on. A lot of things changed after Vatican Council II, and very little of it asked for. If the Holy Spirit guaranteed the Council, you have to wonder who was the spirit behind all the changes that the Holy Spirit didn't ask for.
"Second Vatican Council" refers to the 21st ecumenical council of the Roman Catholic Church held between 1962 and 1965 in Vatican City. It brought significant changes to the Church's practices and doctrines, emphasizing dialogue with the modern world and promoting ecumenism.
The Second Vatican Council was a pastoral Council, it made no changes to Church doctrine, or to the structure of the Church itself.
Amongst other things it referred to them as 'separated brethren' implying a common Christian faith and thus promoting ecumenism.
Ecumenism means friendly dialogue with those of other religious faiths.
Pope John XXIII called for Vatican 2.
The Second Vatican Council said nothing about beverages in Church.
One of the many changes that Pope John XXIII made was convening the Second Vatican Council, which aimed to modernize and renew the Catholic Church. This council brought significant reforms, such as allowing the Mass to be celebrated in vernacular languages instead of Latin and promoting dialogue and ecumenism with other Christian denominations.
