This is best captured in II Samuel chapter 12 as the prophet Samuel is communicating to David the consequences of engaging in infidelity with Bathsheba (the wife of Uriah). Essentially the child, who was the initial product o the infidelity, died. Also David lived out the rest of his days with challenges to his throne by the sword mostly by his own son Absalom.
