What wood is the cross made of?

We can not be to certain of what wood was used for the calcification of Jesus Christ. but one thing is very clear that the Romans were expect in crucifying people. And as they had to be on the cross for many hours till they die, the wood had to be very strong indeed.

And what wood was used is not mentioned in The Bible.

The crosses at Golgotha were made of cedar wood.

Although there is no direct evidence that I am aware of, since everything considering the crucifixion was very well documented by prophets foretelling the future, and especially the crucifixion, we can be confident that since all of the other prophecies were fulfilled, these would also have been fulfilled.

The cleansing of the leper:

The uncleanness of the leper depicts the sinful state of man and the cleansing of the leper foretold how we would be cleansed of our uncleanness by the crucifixion of Jesus the Messiah.

Then shall the priest command to take for him that is to be cleansed two living clean, birds, cedar tree wood , and crimson wool and hyssop: And the priest shall command that one of the birds be killed in an earthen bowl over running water: As for the living bird, he shall take it, and the cedar tree wood , and the crimson wool, and the hyssop, and shall dip them and the living bird in the blood of the bird that was killed over the running water: And he shall sprinkle upon him that is to be cleansed from the leprosy seven times, and shall pronounce him clean, and shall let the living bird loose into the open field. Lev 14,4-6

What is this prophecy referring to? It is the cleansing which happens through the immersion of baptism.

In the immersion, we, like the first bird, die. We are crucified with Christ (cedar wood), buried with him by baptism into his death (Rom 6, Col 2). The crimson wool is our sin (though your sins be as crimson, they will be white as snow Isa 1,17) The cedar wood is referring to the cross, and accordingly, it was of cedar wood. The bird which flies away and lives is referring to us, as we are raised with the Messiah and partake through this immersion with his resurrection.

The same cedar wood is referred to by the sacrifice of the Red Heifer, (Num 19) the most important and unusual sacrifice of Israel (If you are interested, in a book of 400 pages I go into great depth of the subject. See link below.)

Speak to the children of Israel, that they take to you a perfectly red heifer, in which is no blemish, and upon which a yoke was never laid. And you shall give her to Eleazar the priest. He shall taker her out to the outside of the camp, and one shall slay her before his face: And Eleazar the priest shall take of her blood with his finger, and sprinkle of her blood directly towards the front of the tabernacle of the congregation seven times: And one shall burn the heifer in his sight; the skin, the flesh, the blood, with its dung shall it be burned. And the priest shall take cedar tree wood , and hyssop, and crimson wool, and cast it into the midst of the burning of the heifer. Num 19,2-6

Jesus was the red heifer, first brought to Annas (who first checked him), and then to Caiaphas his son in law (like Aaron who brought it to Eleazar) who was to sacrifice it and assuring that it had no two hairs not read in the same area and had never carried a yoke. Before Caiaphas the heifer is sacrificed. And before Caiaphas it is burned (by the Roman Soldiers who sat by while he suffered the flame of passion). The cedar wood was the cross, the crimson wool was the sin placed upon him that he bore (the sins of the world 1.Jn 2).
