When a man is ordained as a priest, he is ordained by a particular bishop for that bishop's diocese. For instance, I live in the diocese of Raleigh (eastern North Carolina) so when men are ordained for this diocese they are ordained by the Bishop of Raleigh. During the ordination ceremony, the deacon to be ordained puts his hands, in the prayer position, inside the hands of the bishop and swears obedience to him and to his successors. Once he is ordained, he remains in that diocese (or religious order) for life. Very occasionally, for good reason, a man might request a transfer, but he would have to get formal written permission from another bishop that would be willing to accept him, and formal written permission from his own bishop allowing such a transfer. No priest is ever without a bishop over him, to whom he has pledged his obedience lifelong. So the short answer is "whatever the Bishop requires of him". There are two kinds of priests, secular and religious. Secular priests are ordained by the Bishop of a diocese to serve in that diocese, religious priests are ordained to serve in an Order, for instance, the Benedictines, or the Jesuits. The former usually run parishes, although there are priests in administration, teaching at schools, running the legal system, etc. Order priests have a particular charism of their order. Most Benedictines are in monasteries, and run schools. The Jesuits also run schools.
A lay-person would be the opposite of a priest.
if a monk is a priest you would see a cross as a necklace
absolutely, a priest would be very happy to baptise a child!!
No, that would have to be granted by the bishop upon recommendation of a priest.
The term "false priest" works just fine.
A priest who resigns is considered to have resigned from the Church itself and is no longer considered as a Catholic. Since he is no longer Catholic he is free to do as he pleases. However, a priest can remain in the Church as a Catholic if he is laicized. To be laicized the bishop of the diocese would have to declare the priest's Holy Orders as null and void. In other words, he would no longer be a priest. He, too, would be free to marry but would still be considered a Catholic.
Which doctor priest ******holy man would be the most appropriate
You say...Priest...It doesnt change...But actully in Italy it would be,POPE
The parish could not, on their own, remove a priest. They would have to petition the bishop of the diocese to do so. The decision would be his.
Unless the rabbi was a Messianic Jew he would disagree. A Catholic priest would agree with the claim that Jesus was God.
The priest
A Priest Hole is a secret hiding place, either in a house or a church. It is when enemies were against the church would seek out the clergy, they would have to secrete themselves in these hideaway places. Many old mansions have these Priest Holes today.
