The glory of the Lord returned to the temple in the book of Ezekiel, specifically in Ezekiel 43:1-5.
This is spoken of a number of times in the Bible, though the 'fog' you refer to, is the cloud of the glory of the Lord in the Bible. Here are two references - And the priests could not enter into the house of the LORD, because the glory of the LORD had filled the LORD's house. (2 Chronicles7.2) And it came to pass, when the priests were come out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the house of the LORD,So that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of the LORD. (1 Kings.8.10,11) You might be thinking of Revelation 15:8 where the temple was filled with smoke when the angels of the temple came out with the 7 plagues.
