In Daniel 9:1-19, it indicates that Daniel had been reading through the books the "word of the Lord through Jeremiah the prophet" Daniel read Jeremiah 25:8-11 and 29:10-14:

" 'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,' declares the Lord, 'and I will bring you back from captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you,' declares the Lord, 'and I will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile'."

Daniel was reading this in Babylon in 536BC because it was "in the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus". He would have been about 84 years old at this time, since he was taken into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon in 605BC at about the age of 15 and would have been there for 69 years so would have known that the 70-year period of captivity was almost finished.
