Confucianism does not, on its own, have a worship practice since it is primarily a philosophy. Confucianism does not assert the presence of any deities, spirits, or other supernatural beings for which prayer would be necessary. Therefore, Confucianists do not pray as Confucianists at all (never mind on a special day).

Since Confucianism is a philosophy as opposed to a religion, Confucianists can also have a religion to which they adhere. Most Confucianists are religiously either Atheists or Shenists. (Shenism is the proper term for the folk religions of China.) Atheists do not pray since they do not have any deities, spirits, or other supernatural beings for which prayer would be necessary. So, Atheist Confucianists do not pray at all. Shenists pray to their ancestors on special occasions (like birthdays and holidays), before stressful occasions, or whenever they want to connect to their ancestors. However, Shenists do not have a consistent day of worship like the Jews, Christians, or Muslims. Shenist Confucianists do not pray any more often the non-Confucianist Shenists.
