A person is considered to be superstitious when they believe that an unrelated circumstance has a bearing on the outcome of a particular happening. For instance, some sports persons may believe that they have a lucky pair of socks. If they do not wear those socks then their luck will be changed for the worse. A person may think that a black cat crossing their path will give them bad luck. Friday the thirteenth is probable the most common. Some people believe that this is a bad luck day. When something bad happens on that day then they blame it on "Friday the 13th". Everyday has something that does not go right in it. It is usually dismissed unless it is on Friday the 13th. Then the date is blamed. Many people like to have an excuse or reason for what happens to them so they use superstitions.
