The most common traditions for the death of Jesus are the years 30 CE, based on information in the Synoptic Gospels, or 33 CE, based on information in John's Gospel. The Synoptic Gospels state that the feast of the Passover fell on a Thursday, while John says that the feast of the Passover fell on a Friday. Changes to the calendars in use have made the exact date of Passover uncertain in the first century CE, so there is some uncertainty as to which years the Passover feast would have fallen on either a Thursday or a Friday. Also, Luke suggests that the mission of Jesus began in 28 CE or shortly thereafter, and the Synoptic Gospels imply a mission of less than one year. John's Gospel tells us that the mission of Jesus lasted for three years.
What all the gospels do agree on is that the crucifixion took place during the rule of Pontius Pilate, who was governor of Judea from 26 to 36 CE. A difficulty with this is that the gospels speak of John the Baptist being executed early in the mission of Jesus. Since the Jewish historian, Josephus indicates that John was executed in 35 CE, it would seem that the gospel references to John the Baptist mean that Jesus could not have been crucified before 36 CE.
Another View:
The Scripture states that Jesus began His ministry at the age of 30 yrs. old. It would last 3 1/2 years and include 4 Passovers. Some scholars have dated this beginning to Autumn 27 AD. The 1st Passover was in the Spring 28 AD. The 2nd Passover was Saturday, 16 April 29 AD; and the third was Wednesday, 05 April 30 AD. Christ finished His final Passover meal that evening of the 4th Passover night(days began at sunset and went to sunset for 24 hours) and went into the Garden to pray. Around midnight, He was betrayed by a kiss and led away to trial and eventually beaten and led to His Crucifixion at 6:00 AM of Passover Day. He died at the 9th hour or 3:00 PM and was taken down and buried just before sunset which was the start of the Feast of Unleavened Bread - an Annual Sabbath. This is dated to Wednesday, 25 April 31 AD. He remained in the tomb for 3 full days and nights, arising on Saturday, 28 April 31 AD, just before sunset and was seen during the night time hours of early Sunday or the 1st day of the week.
