Vyasa Maharshi, also known as Vedavyasa, is a legendary figure in Hindu tradition, traditionally believed to have lived around 3,000 to 5,000 years ago. He is credited with composing the Mahabharata and compiling the Vedas. While exact historical dates are difficult to pinpoint, he is often associated with the Dvapara Yuga, the third of the four Yugas in Hindu cosmology. His contributions have had a lasting impact on Hindu philosophy, literature, and spirituality.
In the first book of the Mahābhārata, it is described that Vyasa asked Ganesha to aid him in writing the text, however Ganesha imposed a condition that he would do so only if Vyasa narrated the story without pause. To which Vyasa then made a counter-condition that Ganesha must understand the verse before he transcribed it.
The "Bhagavad Gita" is a Hindu scripture composed of 700 verses that is part of the Indian epic Mahabharata. It is considered to be authored by Vyasa.
The title of "Father of Indian Philosophy" is often attributed to Maharishi Vyasa, who is considered the compiler of the Vedas and author of the Mahabharata, as well as being the founder of the Vedanta school of philosophy.
