Some people do believe in re incarnation. It is a sort of "Well let me see if I can improve in the next re incarnation". Unfortuanately we only have one life, this one. The are no second or third chances to perfect ourselves. There is a saying which goes "NOW is the time to prepare our labors, NOW is the time to prepare to meet God" . We have one shot at getting it right, so make sure that your sites are set and you are ready to hit the mark as you only have one round in the chamber.

It's all a matter of what you choose to believe. Some people believe in reincarnation, that when we die, we are reborn as something else, depending on how we lived our life (example: if we were a bad person we would be reincarnated as, say, a cockroach). Christians believe that through baptism, we are reborn in Christ, as we die to original sin.

So, no one knows for sure, same as heaven/ the afterlife or God and such. It's a personal belief, really.

Some believe the soul returns time and again learning and evolving from lower lifeforms to the eventual attainment of "enlightenment".

Others believe the soul chooses to return to this plane of existence to learn various lessons and to participate in the lessons of other souls on their journey.
