I suggest that you contact the Gideons International association on http://www.gideons.org/Splash.aspx. Click on your region of the world from the list on the left and you will be redirected to your national Gideon centre.

If you click on 'Contact Us' you will be able to order a Gideon Bible or Bibles. However, Gideons only tend to give Bibles free in bulk to recognised organisations (hotels, prisons, schools, medical waiting rooms etc) as individuals should be able to afford a single Bible for themselves. Gideons provide Bibles at their own expense or through fundraising, and so this request is perfectly reasonable.

The Bible used by the Gideons is usually the King James Version KJV (or the New King James Version NKJV for those who would like a modern translation). Although the New International Version (NIV) was used on the Gideons UK regional Website when quoting Bible texts online (e.g. see http://www.gideons.org.UK/BibleHelps/index.asp), it is not used by the Gideons in the printing of Bibles.

If you cannot get a Gideon Bible as an individual, these versions of the Bible can be read for free on www.Biblegateway.com and parts downloaded also for free using 'cut and paste'. The KJV, NKJV and NIV can also be purchased relatively cheaply from all booksellers and from online book stores.

Should you specifically want some of the Gideon's own introductions or theme indices from their Bibles, you can obtain these from their website.
