It is called the sermon on the Mount because the location was the Mount(ain) of Olives, which is located close to Jerusalem.
According to Matthew 5:1, "He went up into a mountain."
According to Luke 6:17: "He came down with them, and stood in the plain."
It is not known where Jesus delivered the Sermon on the Mount. It has been speculated that it was possibly given in the Galilee area.
