There were two men named Mordecai in The Bible.
The first one assisted Zerubbabel is discussed in Nehemiah 7:5-7.
The second is more well-known as he was discussed extensively in the Bible book of Esther. This Mordecai was a servant of King Ahaseurus of Persia and the cousin of Queen Esther.
Mordecai was persecuted by the prime minister Haman the Agagite to the extent that Haman plotted to rid the land of Mordecai and all the Hebrews. Because of her great courage, Queen Esther was instrumental in exposing this plot and saved both Mordecai and her people.
The Bible does not say how Mordecai died. Mordecai's accuser (Haman) was hung.
