Where did the Catholic Mass come from?

The Catholic Mass originated with Our Blessed Lord dying on the cross. The first instance of the Mass was the Last Supper on Holy Thursday in anticipation of the crucifixion, this is the where the "form" of the Mass comes from. But the matter of the Mass is Our Bless Lord's sacrifice of Himself on the cross, the Mass is the application of those graces to those present.

Every Mass consists of a number of readings from Holy Scripture (The Bible).

The gospel reading is last in the series of readings and is usually preceded by a sung acclamation (Alleluia) when everyone stands to hear the gospel proclaimed.

The gospel is read from one of four books - Matthew, Mark, Luke or John. These are the four authors who wrote accounts of the life of Jesus.

Mass in Greek at first throughout the empire. It was then adapted into Latin in the western half.
