mazal tov (מזל טוב) is the Hebrew word for congratulations.

Note: It does not mean "good luck." This is a common mistranslation based on a literal translation. Mazal Tov really means something like "[I am happy that you are having] good luck," It's never used to tell a person that you hope they are about to have good luck.


To wish someone "good luck" in Hebrew, you would say: be-hatslachá (בהחצלחה), which literally means "with success."
