"For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins. Wherefore when He cometh into the world, He saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared Me: in burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure. Then said I, lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of Me,) to do thy will, O God." (I (Heb.10:4-7)
Additional thoughts:
Jesus didn't so much ASK for a body, as recount the event.
Another translation of the above scripture at Hebrews 10 says "Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said: "Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me..."(NIV) This fulfilled prophecies at (Psalm 40:6-8)(Isaiah 50:4-6)
I don't think you'll find that exact quote. A search in BibleGateway (for "prepare body") turns up only one quotation, Hebrews 10:5; but it seems to be quite unrelated to the question (searcing in "King James Version"):
4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:
6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.
Of course, it's possible that it says something similar in somewhat different words.
According to the Bible, Simon and Joseph took Jesus down, while the Virgin Mary wept at the foot of the cross.
As Jesus was a very common name and in the bible it refers to several people named 'Jesus'. Also, Christ is is the son of God so the church is the body of God if you break it down.
This phrase is not found verbatim in the book of Isaiah in the Bible. However, the concept of God sending a redeemer to save humanity is a prominent theme throughout the book.
An ancient text known as the Bible, of unknown authorship, claims that Jesus is god/the son of god. However, there is no other evidence and the grounds for this claim are questionable, as we do not know who wrote the Bible, and it was during a very superstitious time.
Jesus' shroud is the mythical cloth that covered the dead body of Jesus, but there is no record of this in the Bible. Rather, this scripture illustrates the manner of Jesus' burial. Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury. (John 19.40)
at the last supper they had bread which represented Jesus' body and wine which represented Jesus' blood, it also talks about them having fish in the bible
The definition of BODY is the entire material or physical structure of an organism, especially of a human or animal. We can easily understand the definition of 'Jesus Body' from the above - Jesus body is a group of followers of Jesus Christ includes all denominations, all nations.
Many believe that there were 2 guards out side of the tomb of Jesus Christ. But the Bible does not give an exact answer.
The Bible says that Joseph of Arimathaea's tomb was used.
Mary, the mother of Jesus, did not go to the tomb because she was not present during the crucifixion and burial of Jesus. She was not mentioned in the Bible as being at the tomb when Jesus' body was placed there.
This quote is from Hebrews 10:5, which is a quote from Psalm 40, but the wording is not the same as in our translation of the bible. The writer of the book of Hebrews often quoted from the Greek Old Testament (Septuagint) and so the wording is a little bit different.
Thomas, also known as Doubting Thomas, was one of the twelve disciples of Jesus in the Bible. He is best known for initially doubting the resurrection of Jesus until he saw and touched the wounds on Jesus' body. This story highlights the importance of faith and belief in Christianity.
