A:All the gospels tell us that Jesus died on the cross on Friday, at 3pm. In the synoptic gospels, this was the day after the Passover feast, while in John, it was the day before the Passover feast. They also tell us that Jesus was resurrected on the Sunday morning, the third day. After this, they diverge: Matthew:

• Sunday morning: Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to the tomb; there was an earthquake and an angel descended from heaven and told them to return to the disciples; on the way back to tell the disciples, the two women met Jesus.
• Sunday: the guards were given large sums of money to say that the disciples took Jesus' body
• Later: Jesus met the disciples at a mountain in Galilee and sent them to all nations, to teach his gospel.

Mark:

• After the Sabbath (which could mean Saturday night, but is usually read as Sunday morning): Mary Magdalene, the other Mary and Salome went to the tomb; a young man inside the tomb told them that Jesus was risen and they fled in terror, telling no one.

  The gospel originally ended at this verse. The 'Long Ending' follows:

• Sunday: Jesus appeared to Mary Magdalene, who went and told the disciples; after that he appeared to the two of them as they walked; afterwards, he appeared to the eleven at a meal and told them to go forth into the world and preach the gospel; He was then received up into heaven.

Luke/Acts
