A:All the gospels tell us that Jesus died on the cross on Friday, at 3pm. In the synoptic gospels, this was the day after the Passover feast, while in John, it was the day before the Passover feast. They also tell us that Jesus was resurrected on the Sunday morning, the third day. After this, they diverge: Matthew:
  • Sunday morning: Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to the tomb; there was an earthquake and an angel descended from heaven and told them to return to the disciples; on the way back to tell the disciples, the two women met Jesus.
  • Sunday: the guards were given large sums of money to say that the disciples took Jesus' body
  • Later: Jesus met the disciples at a mountain in Galilee and sent them to all nations, to teach his gospel.
Mark:
  • After the Sabbath (which could mean Saturday night, but is usually read as Sunday morning): Mary Magdalene, the other Mary and Salome went to the tomb; a young man inside the tomb told them that Jesus was risen and they fled in terror, telling no one.

    The gospel originally ended at this verse. The 'Long Ending' follows:

  • Sunday: Jesus appeared to Mary Magdalene, who went and told the disciples; after that he appeared to the two of them as they walked; afterwards, he appeared to the eleven at a meal and told them to go forth into the world and preach the gospel; He was then received up into heaven.
Luke/Acts
  • Sunday, very early in the morning: Mary Magdalene, the other Mary, Joanna and other women went to the tomb and found the stone already rolled away; two men who stood inside told them that Jesus was risen, and they returned and told the disciples; Peter ran to the sepulchre and looked inside, seeing nothing but the linen cloths laid by themselves.
  • Sunday: Jesus met two of them on the road to Emmaus, but they did not recognise him until he broke bread at a meal, whereupon he vanished; that evening he appeared to the eleven at a meal in Jerusalem; Jesus took the disciples out on the road to Bethany, where he blessed them and was taken up bodily to heaven.

    Luke finishes at this point; Acts follows:

  • Jesus remained on earth for forty days and was seen by many;
  • After forty days: Jesus was taken up bodily to heaven near Jerusalem (Acts 1:3).
John
  • Sunday morning: Mary Magdalene went alone to the tomb, but seeing the stone had been moved, did not go inside but returned to tell the others; Peter and the 'beloved disciple' ran to the tomb and found it empty; Jesus appeared to Mary Magdalene, who thought he was the gardener.
  • Sunday evening: Jesus appeared to ten of the disciples at a meal.
  • After eight days: Jesus appeared to the eleven disciples at a meal.
  • Later: Jesus appeared to the disciples by the Sea of Galilee.

The 'thief' wasn't 'standing next to Jesus', he was hanging on a torture device next to him. Actually, the Bible says that there were two robbers being executed on both sides of Jesus, for crimes they had committed(Matthew 27:38) (Luke 23:32-43), as was prophesied (Isaiah 53:12)
