Catholic AnswerWe know that Jesus had no brothers (or sisters) because Mary went through her entire life as a perpetual virgin. This has been believed by Christians continuously since the time of Jesus Christ on earth. Protestants tend to look at the word "brothers" in the New Testament and assume that Jesus had siblings. This is wrong. The word, in the Greek, is Adelphos. There were no words in Aramaic for uncle, cousin, any kind of near relative, they were all referred to as "brethren" or "brothers". When it was put into Greek, they used the same word for everything, even though there are different Greek words for brother, cousin, uncle, etc. Examples:(all examples are taken
