They probably used camels, due to the fact that camels can travel far distances better than donkeys (the other common transportation) could. However, others such as John MacArthur believe they travelled on horses.
the three wisemen
The term "wisemen" is actually a misnomer. The wisemen were actually astronomers from the orient who came to find Jesus, but did not do so until about two years after His birth. The Bible doesn't say there were three of them either. So the phrase "the three wisemen" is not a correct statement. However, the men did bring gifts of gold frankincense and myrrh when they did find Jesus.
The three wisemen/kings that brought the gifts to baby Jesus
Because that was the day baby Jesus was born and wisemen from the East gave gifts to him. So when you give a gift to someone, its like giving a gift to Jesus.

The three gifts that the wise men gave to Jesus were gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Gold represented his kingship, frankincense symbolized his divinity, and myrrh signified his earthly death and burial.
They weren’t kings. Magi, wisemen, or astronomers. Also the Bible never says there were three.
Caesar did not bring Jesus any gifts as he probably did not know of His birth and if he somehow knew he would not have honored a king with gifts. Caesar considered himself above all persons.
