Religion it self does not kill, but fanaticism that incites hatred, violence and extremist views do, this has incited many wars in which millions of people have died over thousands of years.

Technically speaking, religion has no power to kill. Humans, using religious beliefs as an excuse, have been responsible for unimaginable numbers of deaths. The Roman Catholic Church alone is estimated to have killed 100 to 300 million Christians and Jews during the darkest period of the church's history, of which the Pope (in the year 2000) apologized to the world for the deaths.

Throughout human history there have been untold numbers of holy wars, large and small, of which no one has been a winner. One has only to listen to the news to understand mankind never seems to learn from the past, doomed to repeat the same atrocities over and over. The only thing that improves over time are the weapons that are created to kill each other.
