Then along came the Geneva Bible in 1560

And the King James Translation in 1611

And of course today we have many new translations like the ESV, NASV, MKJV, NKVJ and so on...

The oldest versions are those in the original languages of Hebrew and Greek. The earliest Hebrew texts date fromway before Christ, and the earliest Greek texts date, in fragments, from around 80 -120 AD.

All other versions of the Bible are more modern and are translations into various languages.

As for English translations, parts of the Bible that were translated into Old or Middle English can be ttraced back as far as thhe seventh century.

The earliest complete 'Modern' English Language translation was that of William Tyndale which was translated in the early 16th Century.

By comparison, the Authorised Version (KJV) was not translated until ober 100 years later in 1611.

The modern Bible was given to mankind in two parts called 'Testaments' commonly labeled as the Old and New Testament.

In Judaism, it is believed that the oldest version of the 'Hebrew Bible' is the Masoretic Text which they hold are exactly the same writings of Moses (see Deuteronomy 31:24). Most Protestant Christians would hold this to be the best original version of the Old Testament text.

The New Testament is a collection of Christian works that many agree were written in the common Greek language between 40-100 A.D. by various Jewish disciples of Jesus. Jerome in the 4th century created the Latin Vulgate of these writings. The 'Textus Receptus' of Erasmus in the 16th Century is known as the Greek 'Received Text,' later enhanced by Stephanus (Robert Stephens) and is considered a compilation of various ancient manuscripts. There are supporters of both the Vulgate and Received Text as the oldest version of the N.T..
