In John 4:12 Jesus asks "Are you greater than our father Jacob..." Jesus was talking to the Samaritan woman at the well. She was amazed that anyone would allow a Samaritan to drink from this well as they were not liked by other Jews. Jesus told the Samaritan woman he could give her a drink that she would never be thirsty again. This of course was in reference to the word of his preaching.

Can you pray to Jesus too?

For those who believe in the Trinity, yes you may. For those who believe in three seperate persons making up the Godhead you pray to the Father through Jesus Christ. He is the mediator between you and the Father. So your prayer would be "Our Father" and end with "In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen."Another Answer:Yes, Jesus is the only Mediator between Man and God and all things should be asked through Him. As He is in the Father and the Father is in Him (we can be in Christ):John 14:13New King James Version (NKJV) 13 And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

Does the genealogy of Jesus include Tamar?

She was the mother of Pharez, the father of Esrom, the father of Aram, the father of Aminadab, the father of Naason, the father of Salmon, the father of Boaz, the father Jesse, the father of David the king, and every Jew knows that Christ is the son of David: Matthew 22:41,42 - "While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them, Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The Son of David." That makes Tamar King David's great great great great great great great grandmother, and there are another 28 "greats" to Christ. 17 So there were 14 generations from Abraham to David, 14 generations from David until the exile to Babylon, 14 generations from the exile until the Messiah.

What does Jesus tell us God is like?

In John 14:8, Philip asked jesus to show them (the other disciples) the Father. Jesus answered, "Have I been so long time with you and yet hast thounot known me, Philip? he that has seen me has seen the father". Jesus and the father are alike in every way. You see Jesus, you see the Father. Read and study about Jesus and you will know exactely what God is like. God is gracious and merciful, loving, forgiving, just, and completely sinless and holy. How does the title son of god help christians to understand the person of Jesus?

John 5.18. "Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God." As the Jews, we believe the title, son of God, means God is Jesus' Father, and so he is equal with God. The person of Jesus is the visible manifestation of the living God; as Jesus said to Phillip when Phillip asked Jesus to "Show us the Father." Jesus answered him in John 14.9. "Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou [then], Show us the Father?"
