Who gave the physical features of Jesus in the bible?

The Bible says very little as to the physical appearance of Christ. But Isaiah 53:2 says in part: ...He hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see Him there is no beauty that we should desire Him.

There are no physical features given of Jesus in scripture. However, some will interpret literally the description of the Son of man from Chapter 1 of the Apocalypse of John:

"...clothed to the feet, and turned about in a robe reaching to his feet with a girdle of gold. And His head and His hair were white, like white wool, like snow; and His eyes, like a flame of fire: and His feet were like fine brass, flaming in a furnace...and His countenance was like the sun shining in its strength."

Of course, apocalyptic literature is allegorical and symbolic, so we cannot derive from John's Revelation a clear, accurate description of Jesus. Nevertheless, church history has provided the world with many artistic representations of Jesus, and as time goes on they are often more and more similar to one another.
