Cayla and Ashley are thirteen and eleven year-old musicians from Portland, Oregon. Cayla is a high school freshman while her sister Ashley is in seventh grade. At the age of five, they began training as pianists. Over the years, both girls were involved in formal piano recitals competitions, often being awarded for solo and duet performances. Both girls participated in Syllabus

,

yearly music exams "in which students are tested on their mastery of various musical concepts". Two years ago, they began to singing together and since then have participated an many public musical events.


After a few months of voice lessons, Cayla and Ashley competed in County Fair Talent Shows. They won second place at the Polk County Fair's Gospel Sing and first place in the Clackamas County Fair Talent Show. They made it to Oregon State Fair Talent Show in 2011, and again in 2012 –

winning third place. Cayla and Ashley spent the rest of their summer singing in parks, fund raisers, and rallies.


In 2011, composer and pianist Michael Allen Harrison featured them in his sixteen concerts downtown, Christmas at the Old Church, and fund raisers Ten Grands for Kids, Ten Grands, and Ten Grands Seattle. The two sister joined other professional musicians in his world premiere show, "Crossing Over: A Musical Haggadah." They also sang at the "Wine and Roses" Vikings fundraiser at the Tiger Woods Center, Nike Headquarters.


The following year, Cayla and Ashley worked with JAS Music and released their debut album, Cayla and Ashley,in December 2012. The songs –

melody and lyrics –

were written by Cayla. The CD is available on iTunes

Cayla and Ashley performed with Michael Allen Harrison in the Christmas at the Old Church again last year, and joined it him at local churches and concerts. The sisters also sang LIVE on Good Day Oregon, Channel 12. In January, they joined Harrison and the Polaris Dance Theatre in the world premiere production Snowman and the Red Thread.Itwas their first time acting and dancing, and collaborating with other professional artists in an all-ages show.



In March, both girls performed in Michael Allen Harrison's Ten Grands for Kids, Something Grand, and Ten Grandsagain. It was fabulous to see their friends again, and watch talented individuals share their gifts with the audience.



In their free time, both girls enjoy reading, watching their favorite movie – Lord of the Rings, and writing music.New opportunities and incredible experiences are always appearing. Cayla and Ashley love each one –

whether big or small.
