The word trespass in biblical text is defined as such:

In Hebrew Text There are these words which are interpreted in english as trespass

6588 (Genesis, and 1 Samuel)

817 (Leviticus and other books)

819 (Leviticus and other books)

4604 (Leviticus and a few other places)

2398 only once (1 Kings 8:31)

In Greek text the word is interpreted from Strong's word 264 in ever single case (3 times) The word trespasses is used more often in the New Testament and its Strong's word 3900, which is also translated faults.

264 = hamartano: From 1 as a negative particle and the base of 3313; Properly to "miss the mark" and so not share in the prize. i.e. figuratively to err, especially morally, to sin, for your faults, offend, sin, trespass

3900 = paraptoma: from 3895, a slide slip (lapse or deviation) i.e. (unintentional) error or (willful) transgression, fall, fault, offense, sin, transgression.

However, you ask; transgression or error of offense of what?

The answer is a transgression, fault or error against our Fathers law as it is given in the 10 commandments and the book of Leviticus.

A working example of this trespass which can be observed in the world today is as such:

Marx & Engels believed in Stoic philos-sophos doctrine and as such they used the dialectic of the Stoics to derive their own dialectic , one known as the dialectic of materialism. That dialectic of materialism forces its adherents to covet what others have and then use any means necessary to steal it under the guise of redistribution. Using this example, lets observe the trespass against our Fathers laws which occurred buy adhering to the doctrine of Marx & Engels and their dialectic of materialism.

Our Fathers 10 commandments are given in Exodus chapter 20 and and Deuteronomy chapter 5.

Exodus 20:17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbors house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbors wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox nor his ass, nor anything that is thy neighbors

Exodus 20:15 Thou shalt not steal (1589 = literally to thieve or figuratively to deceive) get by stealth.

Marx & Engels dialectic of materialism requires that men covet the wealth of their neighbor and then use the laws of the land or what ever means necessary to take (steal, thieve) that neighbors wealth in order to redistribute that wealth to those who are less wealthy. This action of Marx & Engels doctrine, forces followers to trespass against two of our Fathers laws. One who trespasses against the law is known as a trespasser of that law.

In closing here is a verse which will help explain this question of trespass. Deuteronomy 5:9-10

... For I the Lord God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and forth generation of them that hate me, and shewing mercy unto thousands of them that Love Me AND keep my Commandments.

Remember there are conditions set out in that verse you must love our Father and keep his commandments in order for him to show mercy unto you. His statement requires both things be done. The beauty of this is Christ will forgive you of the trespass if its asked for, honestly in his name and you can start over with a clean slate.

Can a trespasser sue a landowner for assault?

Probably not. Since you were a trespasser, you had no right to be on the property. A landowner may use reasonable force to remove a trespasser from his property. And, depending on the nature of your trespass, you will not be looked at favorably in the courts should you choose to sue.
